We’re gearing up for an awesome May Salon you won’t want to miss! Spread the word to all your friends–we can’t wait to see you all there!
Topic: Gender Inclusion and Doula Care
The voices of transgender, genderqueer, and gender non-conforming individuals are important, yet seldom heard in the work of many providers of pregnancy-related care. Whether providers, clients, or parents, this Salon aims to illuminate some experiences and needs of people living outside of the gender binary. We hope to create deeper insight and awareness of gender for all people whose personal or professional lives are touched by pregnancy. We will highlight some local voices, and facilitate a discussion to encourage each of us to explore the meaning of gender and how it is represented in our work. If desired, there will be opportunities for practical, hands-on activities regarding language and use of gender pronouns.
OPTIONAL: We will be offering a mini gender 101 training before the Salon. Everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of previous knowledge or experience. It may be particularly useful for people who are less familiar with the language or history of transgender/gender non-conforming communities. This will begin at 6pm.
We welcome everyone at this Salon, and hope people will ask questions, learn, share, make mistakes, and receive inspiration, hope and healing.
